What is Important to You?

By Jim Wicks

CSI is into its second year of operation, and Kevin Shaw and I have been busy growing your Colorist Society into a powerful and effective voice in the color community and the film and television industry.

We recognize that it can seem quiet sometimes, but it is not because we’re sitting on our laurels: quite the opposite, actually.

Kevin and I devote scores of hours per month working on your behalf to build a strong foundation and infrastructure that will help CSI last for many years to come.

We want to hear from you. What do you want CSI to do on behalf of the membership? What is important to you? Got a suggestion or an idea? Email us at:

This is your Colorist Society. What is important to you?

Getting Credit

Kevin and I are working hard to get Producers and Production Companies into the routine of asking to add the CSI after your name. Things are changing.

Charles Boileau, CSI emailed us from beautiful Montreal, Quebec, Canada to tell us about his screen credit for the film, The Little Girl Who Was Too Fond of Matches.

“For this film it was fairly easy... The director was in the grading room writing credits. He said: “Charles, how should I credit your name?” Charles replied, “Just put me down as Colorist”… “OH!!!! Add CSI after my name!.”

If you don’t ask – you won’t get credit. It’s that easy.

Here is the IMDB page:

Here is the trailer:

Shot on Red Epic Monochrome. This project is one of the most beautiful B&W I had the chance to do.

CSI Forums

Don’t forget there are two CSI forums.

If you are an associate or alliance member, the forum is a great place to ask questions or discuss things out of public view. There are some good forums out there, but sometimes it is better to discuss things among ourselves. Most recently, Roel Videler posted some helpful resources to the Associate forum. The main thread on the full member forum is a discussion on our goals and how to get there.

Both Member areas have exclusive CSI discounts, software suggestions, and download pages. If you have something to share, or something you are looking for use the forums or send it to

As always, we appreciate our sponsors (and hope to add more to the list).
Click on their logo to check out their offerings.

If you have news, photos, projects your working on, etc. that you would like to share with your CSI fellow members in future newsletters – send us an email at with all the details.

Happy Grading!

Best, Jim and Kevin
