The Academy Color Encoding System (ACES), the industry standard digital encoding, color management and archiving system, is the newest member of the Friends of CSI.
ACES joins a growing list of corporate sponsors that include: Blackmagic Design, Divergent Media, Dolby, Flanders Scientific, and SAM (Snell Advanced Media).
ACES is being used globally in productions ranging from motion pictures to television, streaming, VR/AR, video gaming and more. Incorporating sophisticated color science, best practices and SMTPE standards, ACES helps colorists, cinematographers and other creative and technical professionals maintain color fidelity and color consistency throughout all phases of production and post production.
Colorist Society International was proud to be among the many sponsors again this year for the 2017 Colorist Mixer at IBC in Amsterdam.
Charles Poynton, CSI, and Peter Doyle, Supervising Visual Colorist at Technicolor London were among the many guests who attended this year's Mixer.
CSI co-founder Kevin Shaw reports the Mixer "was the best I have been to in Amsterdam. Great venue and a great turnout."

Getting Credit
“All I did was simply ask for my onscreen credit to include
CSI after my name. The Producer and the Director said, ‘no problem.’”
Colorist and CSI co-founder Jim Wicks asked for – and
received – CSI credit for his work as Digital Intermediate Supervising Colorist
on the feature motion picture ‘Monserrate, ¿cómo el cerro?’
The romantic comedy was shot in Miami and Columbia and is
set for wide release in Latin America.
Said Jim: “You do the work – you should be getting credit
for it.”
When you get CSI credit for your work, send us a high res
photo and we’ll recognize your contribution in the newsletter. Email us the photo and film information at: admin@coloristsociety.com
CSI Forums
Don’t forget there are two CSI forums.
If you are an associate or alliance member, the forum is a great place to ask questions or discuss things out of public view. There are some good forums out there, but sometimes it is better to discuss things among ourselves. Most recently, Roel Videler posted some helpful resources to the Associate forum. The main thread on the full member forum is a discussion on our goals and how to get there.
Both Member areas have exclusive CSI discounts, software suggestions, and download pages. If you have something to share, or something you are looking for use the forums or send it to admin@coloristsociety.com.
As always, we appreciate our sponsors (and hope to add more to the list).
Click on their logo to check out their offerings.
If you have news, photos, projects your working on, etc. that you would like to share with your CSI fellow members in future newsletters – send us an email at admin@coloristsociety.com with all the details.
