Society is excited to announce it will host a Colorist Mixer on
Saturday, 13 September in Amsterdam in tandem with IBC 2025. The
event will be held at the coolest venue in Holland:

et Amicitiae, Rokin, the historic former home of the Dutch artists colony
founded in 1839 to promote friendship among artists and art lovers.
This is

Kevin Shaw Featured in ASUS ProArt
Master Talk on HDR at IBC 2025
Colorist
Society president Kevin Shaw will be a featured speaker in ASUS’s
ProArt Masters’ Talks to IBC2025. Kevin will lead a session titled
“Everything You Need to Know About HDR” from 10:00 – 10:30 CEST on
Saturday, 13 September at the ASUS booth (Hall 11 #B34). A Colorist
Society sponsor, ASUS created the series to share the latest trends
and cutting-edge technologies as well as practical workflow and
tools in the field.

Colorist Society Hosts Its First
Mixer in China
Colorist Society
recently held its first ever Mixer in China in a special social
party that drew a large and enthusiastic group of colorists and
other industry professionals. Held in tandem with BIRTV 2025, the
event was hosted by Colorist Society’s China Chapter and Zunzheng
Digital Video and provided attendees with a chance to share their
insights and discuss the latest industry developments in a relaxed
and friendly atmosphere.

will be hosting a Colorist Mixer at the event. As in previous
years, the event will include a panel discussion featuring
finalists and judges from this year’s FilmLight Colour Awards.

Welcomes Paul Hanrahan as Officer
Paul
Hanrahan, CSI has been appointed as an Officer of the Colorist
Society’s China Chapter. A senior colorist and educator with more
than three decades of experience, Hanrahan brings a global
perspective and a deep commitment to artistic and technical excellence
to his new role.

Duensing Takes Part in HPA NET Roundtable
Colorist
Society Fellow Lynette Duensing, CSI, recently co-moderated a
roundtable discussion entitled “Color Grading in Two Different
Worlds” as part of the Hollywood Professional Association’s popular
NET (Networking Education Technology) program. Duensing and
co-moderator Company 3 Associate Producer Beatriz Rodriguez
explored creative workflows across genres, teams and time zones at
the sold-out event. “The energy in the room was unmatched,” she
said, “and the conversations…game-changing.”
Bobola Oniwura, CSI Advocates for an
Oscar for Color on PostPerspective
PostPerspective
recently published an editorial feature by Colorist Society member
Bobola Oniwura, CSI making the case for an Oscar for color grading.
Bobola, whose credits include the films Sugar Rush and Battle On
Buka Street, discusses the evolution of color as a cinematic
artform and the importance of recognizing the contribution of
colorists to storytelling.
Colorist Society’s Felix Hüsken Has
Created a New Note-taking App
Felix
Hüsken, CSI, an officer of Colorist Society’s Germany Chapter, has
developed a simple and freely available note-taking app for grading
reviews.
Designed
for phones and tablets, it features a TC counter that can be used
(roughly) in sync with playback as well as customizable buttons for
most notes. Users can export notes as Marker EDL files for Resolve.
Blackmagic
Design has announced DaVinci
Resolve 20.1a major new update that
adds support for Apple Immersive Video workflows to DaVinci Resolve
Studio for macOS. With this update filmmakers can effortlessly
edit, color grade, add visual effects, mix Spatial Audio, and
deliver Apple Immersive Video captured using the new Blackmagic
URSA Cine Immersive camera.
